Most international travelers arrive at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). To reach Changhua City, where the conference venue is located, take the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR or HSR) from Taoyuan Station to Taichung Station, then transfer to Changhua City.

For public transportation, including the metro (MRT), buses, and trains, we recommend using a smartcard for convenient payment. Two options are available: EasyCard and iPass, both of which can be purchased at airport arrival halls and convenience stores for NT$100 (excluding top-up).

STEP1: Taoyuan Airport → THSR Taoyuan

Option 1: Airport MRT

  • Walk to Taoyuan Airport MRT station. (360 VR guide: Terminal 1 | Terminal 2)
  • Board at Platform 1 and get off at Taoyuan HSR Station (A18) 
  • Fare: NT$35 per trip (contactless credit cards can be used directly at the gateway)

Option 2: Airport Taxi

  • Taxi stands on the west side of the arrival lobbies. (T1: Meeting Point 12; T2: Meeting Point 26).
  • Fare: NT$300–400 (~20-minute ride, credit cards accepted).

For arrivals at other airports, follow these transfer steps to THSR Taichung Station, then proceed to Step 3.

Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA)

  1. MRT: Follow MRT signs to Songshan Airport Station (BR13) → Take the Brown Line to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station (BR10/BL15) → change to Blue Line to Taipei Main Station (BL12) (16 min, NT$25) (Taipei Metro Map)
  2. THSR: Follow signs to THSR Taipei Station → Take a southbound train to THSR Taichung Station. (46–60 minutes, NT$700)

Taichung Airport (RMQ)

  1. Go to the Bus Boarding Area and take Bus 156 to THSR Taichung Station (~55 min, NT$~55). [Timetable]

Kaohsiung Airport (KHH)

  1. MRT: Follow MRT signs to Kaohsiung International Airport Station (R4) (5-min walk) → Take the Red Line to Zuoying Station (R16) (28 min, NT$50) (Kaohsiung Metro Map)
  2. THSR: Leave the metro station via Exit 1 → Walk to THSR Zuoying Station and take a northbound train to THSR Taichung Station. (51–69 min, NT$790)

STEP 2: THSR Taoyuan → Taichung

  • Ticket: Purchase online via the THSR Website or at the station.
  • Payment: Credit cards and cash accepted.
  • Timetable: Check the THSR timetable (southbound)
  • Duration: ~40 min.
  • Fares: Standard: NT$540 | Business: NT$1010 | Non-reserved: NT$520

STEP3: THSR Taichung → Changhua City

To transfer to your accommodations in downtown Changhua City, we recommend taking a TRA train to Changhua Station. Go to Exit 3 and proceed to TRA Xinwuri Station to take a local train at Platform 1. (NT$15, 10 minutes)

For transfer directly to NCUE, where the conference venue is located, you can take either a taxi or a bus.

Option 1: HSR Contract Taxi

  • Taxi pickup area at Exit 7 (go down one floor from the lobby and turn left) 
  • Fare: NT$340–360.

Option 2: Bus

  • Terminal: Located at Exit 5 and 6
  • Duration: 16–20 minutes (to NCUE)
  • Fares: NT$35–45 (smartcards and cash accepted; swipe when boarding and exiting)
  • Routes (click numbers to track buses):

    • 6933 (bound for Lukang Stop) 
    • 6933A (bound for Lukang Stop) 
    • 6936 (bound for Taiwan Glass Gallery)
  • Stop to Alight: Changhua County Indigenous Peoples Activity Center (Changhua County Yuanzhumin Shenghuoguan), as shown in the photo below. (Google Maps location).
  • Walking to the main gate of NCUE (~6 min.)
    1. Go to the intersection where 7-Eleven and 85°C are located, and then turn left into Jinde Rd (進德路).
    2. Follow Jinde Rd to the end—the main gate is straight ahead.
