Position Description: Wayne State University invites applications for a non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science as part of the JETSCAPE collaboration. The Jet Energy-loss Tomography with a Statistically and Computationally Advanced Program Envelope (JETSCAPE) collaboration is an NSF funded multi-institutional project to study droplets of matter at extreme temperatures of more than a trillion degrees using jets of particles emanating from these droplets. Matter at these temperatures last existed microseconds after the big bang, and is now routinely created at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York and at CERN in Switzerland. The collaboration involves teams of theoretical physicists, experimental physicists, statisticians, and computer scientists from Duke, MIT, McGill, Ohio-State, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab., Lawrence Livermore National Lab., Texas A&M, and Wayne State.

The position requires a Ph. D. in computer science, engineering, computational physics or related discipline with a demonstrated expertise in high-performance computing. Prior experience programming on GPU architectures would be highly desirable. The term of the position will be one year, renewable annually for up to three years, beginning in August 2016.
