CodeBhoomi ($5,000) lead by Rakshit Jain. CodeBhoomi is a grassroots software engineering outreach initiative aimed at bridging the rural digital divide in India. The program has established three innovation labs in government and Zilla Parishad schools across under-resourced communities. These labs provide hands-on training in software engineering to rural and tribal youth, with a strong focus on first-generation learners and girls. Alongside this, CodeBhoomi hosts a hackathon to inspire participants to design technology solutions for social good. To extend impact beyond the labs, participants are also encouraged to engage with nearby schools by teaching programming, digital literacy, and computer fundamentals to students and staff. Through experiential learning, community-driven projects, and inclusive outreach, CodeBhoomi nurtures both innovation and social responsibility while closely aligning with IEEE’s mission of advancing equitable access to technology education worldwide.
